Having a verified PayPal account is one of the first steps you’ll need to complete before you can start selling internationally.

Q1 .What does it mean to have a PayPal Verified account?

PayPal Verified members have successfully completed the required steps of PayPal’s verification system to confirm their identity with PayPal.

In most countries and regions where PayPal is available, a Verified member has done this through their financial institute by either adding a bank account or a credit card to their PayPal account, and completed the Expanded Use process.

Q2. Can I link my bank account to my PayPal account to complete the Verification process?

No. At this time, members from all countries except US, Germany, Canada, UK and Australia must add a credit card and complete the Expanded Use Enrollment Process.

Q3. Why does PayPal and eBay ask its members to become Verified?

Verification increases the security of the PayPal network as well as Trust & Safety among the eBay community. Because financial institutions screen their account holders, PayPal’s verification process increases security when you pay or are paid by parties you do not know.

Q4. What are the Benefits of Being Verified?

* More Spending Power: Send unlimited funds from your PayPal account.
* No Withdrawal Limits: Withdraw unlimited funds from your PayPal account.
* Increased security & credibility: Verification not only offers you increased security, but it also lets others know you’re an authenticated member of the community.
* More buyer and seller confidence: Buyers and sellers value your Verified status. It shows you have successfully passed PayPal’s identification checks

Q5. How do I become Verified?
1. Sign up for a PayPal account or login to your existing PayPal account.
2. Click the ‘Enroll in Expanded Use’ link on the ‘Account Overview’ page.
3. Follow the three-step Expanded Use Process in order to become PayPal Verified. Remember, once you are Verified, you will need to link your eBay and PayPal accounts to finalise the process.

Q6. How do I complete the Expanded Use Process?

Step 1:
Authorise PayPal to charge a S$3.00 (or local currency equivalent) to your card. (You will receive a S$3.00 credit in your PayPal account after you complete enrollment.)

Step 2:
On your next credit card statement, find the 4-digit Expanded Use Number that will be printed in the item description section of the charge. It may take 3-4 working days for the number to appear on your statement.

Note: To expedite this process, we recommend logging in to your credit card statement online to get your Expanded Use Number in 3-4 working days. If you are not able to access your credit card statement online, this process could take up to 30-40 days or until you receive your next statement with the post.

Step 3:
Login to your PayPal account, click the ‘Complete Expanded Use Enrollment’ link on your Account Overview, and enter your Expanded Use Number.
When you enter your Expanded Use Number, your verification will be complete. Now you are ready to link your eBay and PayPal accounts.

Reminder: Once you are verified, don’t forget to add the PayPal Verified logo on your auction listings to let buyers know that you are verified.
